COVID Hero Award

We were very pleased to welcome  Councillor John Lamb to ASL’s Management Team Meeting in February.  Councillor John Lamb is the Mayor of Lewes Town Council and was invited to the meeting to present Ricky Keeys (ASL’s Operations Manager)  with a Mayor’s Covid Hero Award.  The awards were set up by the Town Council to “recognise and celebrate outstanding individuals in Lewes, who have gone the extra mile during the Coronavirus outbreak”.

Ricky ASL’s Operations Manager received his award for his dedication, hard work and commitment to ASL throughout the last year, especially during the first lockdown when he worked long hours at our factory, championed keeping ASL running and provided superhuman strength throughout to ensure we supported our customers and were able to remain open.  He was nominated by one of ASL’s Directors Sousan Azimrayat.  At the meeting, Sousan said  “We have so many amazing people working here at ASL, I wish I could nominate everyone.“

The Town Council gave out 35 awards and these were to individuals and other organisations in Lewes.

When it is possible to meet in person, a special medal will be presented to Ricky and the other recipients of the award.

Ricky Keeys is extremely proud to have received the award, and here’s what he had to say:

“Thank you to Sousan for nominating me and writing such a nice letter of recommendation. Thank you to all of us at ASL for all chipping in and working together through this tough time. However, my biggest thank-you goes to my wife Philippa, and the kids Freddie, Oscar and Monty for putting up with me spending so many hours away from home.”

Councillor Lamb was very interested in ASL, he has a background in innovation and technology journalism and is keen to promote businesses in Lewes.  It gave us the opportunity to talk to Councillor Lamb about what we do at ASL and discuss areas where we can support our local community.
